There are pros and cons to tournaments, cash games, and sit-and-gos. I love the other formats, and I've tried both.

Cash Games Positives


1. Flexibility


This is the main reason I play cash games. I can play whenever I want. I will play for 15 mins if it feels good. If I feel like I can play for 8+ hours, I will.


My sessions are not scheduled at specific times of the day. There is always plenty of action at the cash games tables and I can play whenever I want. This makes it so easy to plan my life.


It helps with tilt control. I can also shut down all my tables when things get bad and my play is not going my way and just leave the room.



2. Steady Profit


The idea of winning regularly is perhaps just as important to my mind. I usually know what to expect when it comes to cash games.


Sometimes there are heaters or long downswings, but overall I know that I will make a profit most days. These frequent wins are good for your psychological well-being, even though you should always look at the long term.


The consistency of my results relative to the other formats allows me to feel much more confident in my abilities.



3. High Profit Ceiling
